Abstract
Introduction: Coronavirus Disease 2019 (Covid – 19) is an infectious disease caused by Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) with a fast spread rate, so isolation is important to break the chain of spread of this virus. Objective: To explore in depth the experiences of patients with confirmed Covid-19 after undergoing isolation treatment at Bhayangkara H.S Samsoeri Mertojoso Hospital Surabaya. Methods: This study uses a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach, 10 patients who have undergone isolation treatment in the Covid isolation room at Bhayangkara Hospital Surabaya. Data collection by telephone interview to reduce contact. Then the data was rewritten and the data were analyzed using the Colaizzi method. Results: From the results of interviews conducted, it was found that 40% of the participants experienced early symptoms of shortness of breath, 40% who experienced initial symptoms of cough and cold accompanied by anosmia and 20% experienced early symptoms of fever. The patient's experience after undergoing isolation treatment was reduced to 6 themes, namely perceived response, stressors, social and family support, life after returning home, assessing problems with gratitude, and appreciating family togetherness. Conclusion: Covid-19 patients have different experiences about their illness. From the results of interviews conducted, it was found that 40% of the participants experienced early symptoms of shortness of breath, 40% who experienced initial symptoms of cough and cold accompanied by anosmia and 20% experienced early symptoms of fever. This is due to the different complaints they experience, the ability to adapt, support and the role of medical personnel in preparing patients when they return home. It can also affect the patient's quality of life after undergoing isolation treatment.
