Abstract

This study to determine the significant effect between the use of ventriloquism techniques with student learning interests and to determine the differences in student learning outcomes applied by teachers who use ventriloquism techniques and teachers who use hand puppets. This research uses quantitative method that is quasiexperimental. The subjects of this study were seventh grade junior high school students located in West Surabaya and involved 19 students as samples in this study. In the process of collecting data, researchers used pre-test and post-test. The researcher uses the speaking rubric to measure the students' skill to speak English. In order to determine the normality of the pre-test and post-test, the researcher used Kolmogorov-Smirnov and Shapiro-Wilk to test the normality. Meanwhile, to find out differences in learning outcomes, researchers can see the results of the pre-test and post obtained from the experimental group and the control group. Then the researcher can find out the significant effect in the use of the ventriloquism technique indicated by a significance value (2-tailed) greater than 0.05. If these results have a significance value of not less than the 0.05 level, then the hypothesis is accepted. It can be concluded that there is an influence in the use of the ventriloquism technique because it can be seen from the results of the control group and the experimental group. There is a difference in the scores of the two groups which indicates that the use of the ventriloquism technique has an effect on student learning outcomes using pre-test and post-test.
