Abstract

Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) is an infection caused by the growth of pathogenic microorganisms. This infection most often occurs due to the use of hospital equipment, one of which is a catheter. The use of a long and permanent catheter can make the bacteria adhere to form biofilm bacteria. To prevent the growth of biofilm-forming bacteria, one effort that must be made is to use an antibacterial layer on the catheter surface. This Systematic Literature Review This aims to determine the antibacterial layer that can be used to inhibit the growth of biofilm-forming bacteria on the catheter surface. This research methods was colleting research journal form google scholar and clinical key database using the PRISMA flow guidelines. Journal for data extraction were obtained from 5 main reference journals. Criteria used for obtaining reference journal were journal using experimental design, completely rendomized desingn (CRD), not late than 2015, and synthetic antibacterial layer for chatheter surface. The results of the review show that the ACNS layer, CHX-NS layer, PPX-N layer, AG-PTFE layer, and Ag-NPs layer can inhibit the growth of the tested bacteria with different variations in the presentation of resistance from one another. In Conclusions, the antibacterial coating applied to the cathetersurfece can inhibit the growth of Escherichia coli biofilm as main caused of UTI.
