DISCOURSE ANALYSIS: COMMUNICATIVE COMPETENCE ON ENGLISH DEBATE TECHNIQUE IN THE GREAT DEBATERS MOVIE.

Abstract
Communicative competence is one of the elements that can get in the implementation of
the debate, and is one of the important elements, in the debate there are many things
outside of the debate technique itself that we get, and one of them is communicative
competence, therefore the author wants to discuss communicative competence in the
great debaters movie because in the movie there are many communicative competences in
the debate technique. This study is a descriptive qualitative study by using
documentation technique. It shows that communicative competence obtained from
the character is shown by attitude or action rather than words. As in the 3 aspects
of communicative competence shown through the attitude or action of the
character, these aspects are First, this is a preferred emotion using the mechanism
of building interactions, interpersonal relationships and second, the ability to
predict events, the third-largest, the mechanism of impact of communication
(convincing, suggestion, infection) creates a Condition.
